We first heard from Eduardo when he was trying to obtain accessories for his Cambo Ultima camera. He was told buying anything from Europe would take about 6 weeks to deliver, we very quickly disproved that theory as we have a very efficient delivery service and dealers in the USA that take care of Cambo users.

After contacting Capture Integration, Eduardo had everything he needed with a week.        “I was extremely pleased when I was told by the team at Capture Integration, that my order would be delivered within a week… and even more pleased, when it actually showed at my door on time!”

Q. Why did you choose to buy the Cambo Ultima?

“The Ultima platform is modular, so I’m investing in one camera system and I can choose whether to capture using 4×5 film, DSLR or my medium format digital back”

Q. Do you use all of the Ultima formats?

“If the client demands 16bit high end digital files I can provide this quality level when required. As most clients have restricted budgets and the files they need are smaller, I can shoot with DSLR on the Ultima and produce exceptional quality with movement.”

Q. What are you mainly using?

“I shoot with the Cambo Ultima 35 System. It gives me the flexibility of a view camera and the possibility to use apo-chromatic lenses specifically designed for digital sensors. I use a lot of selective focus in my shots and the only way to really achieve my desired effect, is by using the Ultima 35’s geared view camera movements.”

“I love working with view cameras. However, as technology pushes us towards bigger and more capable equipment, the market forces us to always be aware of the client’s bottom line. We have to be able to creatively reach a balance between the two, without compromising in any way, the quality of the final shot. The Ultima 35 and Nikon D800 combination really helps me achieve a balance between technology and cost effectiveness.”

Q. Which lenses do you use?

“For my food shots, my favourite lens is the Schneider Apo-Digitar 80mm. For architecture, the Schneider Apo-Digitar 28mm (used both in FX and DX modes), gives me the flexibility I need. Advertising is a different animal. Each project is different, so the lens choice is determined by the campaign needs. Basically I use them all.”

Q. When did you first start using Cambo cameras?

“I’ve used Cambo gear since the early 80’s, when I started my first studio in Venezuela. One of my favorite pieces was my old Cambo Studio Stand. Like all Cambo gear, It is superbly built!!”
