Cambo Wide RS Cameras listed in The Best 50 Photography Products of 2012

Resident British Journal of Photography experts, David and Richard Kilpatrick, alongside Kevin Carter, named the cameras, lenses and accessories that have inspired them this year.

The flat-field camera is enjoying some resurgence in popularity as high-quality digital backs from Leaf, Phase One and Hasselblad present real advantages over 35mm SLR-derived systems.

Cambo’s Wide RS sells as much on performance as it does on appearance. With an engineering rather than heritage-led brand, the bodies are under constant development and offer improved flexibility on a faster product cycle. Three new models launched at Photokina enhance work with digital backs by compensating for the weight in vertical shifts and increasing lateral shift by 5mm on the WRS-5000, offering a sliding back with locking positions for stitched images alongside a traditional focusing screen on the WRS-6000, and the low-cost WRS-1200 and 400 compact models. Even the iPhone is integrated into the system, with a compact lens, holder and app to allow the use of the handset as a viewfinder.

Cambo Open Day – 27th November 2012

Thanks to all the visitors that came along to our open day and our colleagues that contributed during the day. For those that couldn’t make it here is a video clip from the event.

The day was centred around the introduction in the UK of the new Cambo Wide RC400, WRS-1200, WRS-1250 & WRS-5000 architectural/landscape cameras. The RC-400 caused a stir being half the price of our nearest rivals. Especially as there is more movement and its 200grams lighter!

Mamiya Leaf brought along the new Credo 60. It was great to try out the hi-resolution digital camera back and output files using Capture One v7. The combination of resolution from the sensor and enhanced detail makes the Credo 60 an extremely good investment.

The Cambo X2Pro was setup with the Nikon D800 to show perspective control when shooting products. We used the Cambo Redwing boom to light the shooting table.

We showed the Unitrack (video track) with video trolley/pedestal. Plus we had a range of booms such as the V-5, Artes and V-15. Video rigs were set up for Video cameras and SLR cameras with the new MFC-2 follow focus with focus stop control.

Sign up to find out more about Cambo and where we’ll be holding our events in 2013.

Enda Cavanagh’s ‘Duality’ Exhibition, Dublin

The Copper House Gallery will launch Duality, a photographic exhibition by Enda Cavanagh, from 6-8pm Wednesday 24th October to 24th November 2012.

Duality is based on a series of large panoramic images celebrating the swimming areas and baths along the Dublin coast. These manmade structures are displayed as evolving and almost living entities with their own personalities; visible connections to the past, revealing an unorthodox beauty and vulnerability.

Enda Cavanagh is an award winning Irish architectural and fine art landscape photographer. He uses a Cambo Wide DS camera, 24mm, 35mm and 47mm Schneider lenses together with the Hasselblad H-3D 39 to produce exceptional images from high resolution digital equipment.

Cambo introduce the ‘new’ Wide RS5000 at Photokina 2012

Cambo X2Pro demonstration at Photokina 2012

Many studios have downsized and at the same time have downsized their camera systems. So, what do you do when your client asks for an image that requires perspective control?

Cambo have a solution called the X2Pro. The camera system was introduced 4.5 years ago and has proven to be the market leader with other manufacturers making similar models. What set the X2Pro apart from the competition is the modularity of the system. Whether you wish to use Canon, Nikon, Sony, Phase One/Leaf, by changing the bellows and camera mount the cost is small to have a perspective control camera solution that is incredibly adaptable.

Digital lenses are supplied from Cambo manufactured by Schneider and Rodenstock, or you you can adapt some of your existing lenses from Hasselblad (V series), Mamiya RB/RZ or Mamiya 645Pro.

Take a look at the images captured and judge for yourself the quality of this solution. The images were captured using a Canon 5DMKII by photographer Andy Haslam.

X2Pro – No Movements f11

X2Pro – No Movements Wide Open
